Apartment living with a Siberian Husky – Is it possible?

The Siberian Husky is great with families, packs, and are loving towards all. Sounds like a perfect pet for anyone aye? Yet are they really perfect for anyone? Even someone living in the middle of a city in an apartment?

It could be difficult but YES, it is possible! Huskies are big dogs that needs plenty of exercise as they have a lot of energy stored into them, but if you help them get exercise and fulfill their needs to thrive and be happy, then they’re good to live in apartments!

How does it work?

Huskies are great dogs but requires a lot of work. Just like any dog, they require special attention and your time throughout the day. They are like children: you need to feed them, help them go to the bathroom, and help them get their energy out. This can be difficult if you work all day at a normal job and only have an apartment. But it can be done!

Exercise is so important. To make it work in an apartment, you need to make a schedule for them to exercise. This breed is used to running and walking a lot, even up to a hundred miles a day! Huskies were bred to run, and will find a way to do it on their own if they cannot do it with your supervision.

Train your Husky.

Huskies tend to howl a lot. If you keep your dog inside your apartment, expect to hear howling! This can be difficult when you live in an apartment because you live so close to your neighbors. It may help to take some time with training your husky how to overcome howling so much. They tend to be sociable so it is hard for them to stay home alone while you are out at work, BUT if you train them well and let them realize that you will come back after you leave, it will be easy.

Bottom line, apartment living with a Husky is a whole lot of work, but it is possible once you provided them their needs to live and to be happy.
